Contest Rules

WALK THIS WEEK - MOBILITY WEEK 2021
 

Article 1 - Contest Organizer 

The Regional Public Service Brussels Mobility, located at Place Saint-Lazare 2, 1035 Brussels and the cabinet of Brussels Minister for Mobility Elke Van Den Brandt organize, in collaboration with Mortierbrigade NV, located at Rue Waelhem 77, 1030 Brussels (hereinafter the "Organizer"), a contest named "Walk This Week", as part of the Mobility Week 2021 (September 16 to September 22, 2021) (hereinafter the "Contest"). 

Participation in the Contest implies the unconditional acceptance of these contest rules (hereinafter the "Rules"). The Rules establish the general conditions of participation applicable to the Contest. Each Participant is deemed to have read, understood, and accepted without restriction the contents of these Rules.

Participation in the Contest is free and without obligation to purchase. 


Article 2 - Duration of the Contest 

The Contest will take place from September 16, 2021 at 00:00 to September 22, 2021 at 23:59. Registration is possible as of September 9. 

 

Article 3 - Access to the Contest 
 
3.1.    Participation in this Contest is open to any natural person who has reached the age of 18 at the start of the Contest and who is domiciled in Belgium (hereinafter, the "Participant"). 

 

3.2.    Excluded from the Contest are staff and appointees of the Organizer, as well as any other person who directly or indirectly participated in the organization or execution of the Contest, and their partners, parents, children, and other persons living with them. 

 

Article 4 - Conditions of Participation 

4.1.    To participate in the Contest, Participants must form a team of at least two (2) and up to ten (10) people (hereinafter "Team"). Each Team has one person in charge, who will register the Team for the Contest. 

           Each Participant must have a valid email address and a Google Fit account. 

 
4.2.          Each Participant may only enter the Contest once and may only be a member of one Team. The Participant is not allowed to participate under different pseudonyms or in the name of one or more third parties. Only the first participation of the Participant will be taken into account. Multiple participations, by any means, will be refused and considered invalid. 
 
4.3.          The Participant guarantees that all data provided by him/her is correct, up-to-date, and complete. The Organizer is not responsible if the Participant provides incorrect, not up-to-date, or incomplete data. 
 
4.4.          The Organizer may at any time exclude a person from participation in the Contest for a specified period, as well as reclaim the prize, if any, that the Participant would have already received by participating in the current Contest, in case of breach of any of the conditions of participation or in case of abuse, fraud, deception or a participation in the Contest in bad faith. 
 

Article 5 - Contest Modalities 
 
5.1.          Each Team must take 10,000 steps per day per Participant during the first seven (7) days of the Contest (i.e., from September 16, 2021 at 0:00 to September 22, 2021 23:59), as follows: 
 
  • A Team of two (2) Participants must collectively take 140,000 steps; 
  • A Team of three (3) Participants must collectively take 210,000 steps; 
  • A Team of four (4) Participants must collectively take 280,000 steps; 
  • A Team of five (5) Participants must collectively take 350,000 steps; 
  • A Team of six (6) Participants must collectively take 420,000 steps; 
  • A Team of seven (7) Participants must collectively take 490,000 steps; 
  • A Team of eight (8) Participants must collectively take 560,000 steps; 
  • A Team of nine (9) Participants must collectively take 630,000 steps; 
  • A Team of ten (10) Participants must collectively take 700,000 steps. 
 
These are weekly goals that each Team must collectively meet. Contest entries can also be made after the start of the Contest, but each Team must meet the weekly goals listed above. 
 
5.2.          Each Participant must connect his/her smartphone, smartwatch, or step counter to the Google Fit app so that the Organizer can automatically integrate the steps into his system. 
 
5.3.          The persons in charge of the Teams that have taken sufficient steps during the seven (7) days (as set out in Article 5.1) will receive an automatic email with a bonus question ("How many steps does it take a bailiff (+/- 195 cm tall) to walk from Koninklijk Paleis to Manneken Pis? Hint: you can check out the exact route here."), which must be answered within a 7-day period. The five (5) Teams whose answers are closest to the correct number of steps will win a prize, as set out in Article 6. 


Article 6 - Contest Prize

6.1.    All Participants from the first Team (whose answer to the bonus question is closest to the correct number of steps) win a Fitbit charger 4 worth 109 EUR. 

           All Participants from the second Team win a voucher for Chabrol worth 100 EUR. 

           All Participants from the third, fourth and fifth Team will win a picnic box for two from ‘Picknick                  in the park’ worth 39.50 EUR. 

 
6.2.          Under no circumstances can the prizes be exchanged for another object or performance, whatever its value, nor for money. 


Article 7 - Prize Allocation and Handover 
7.1.    The winners of the Contest will be the Teams whose answers to the bonus question are closest to the correct number of steps taken. There will be five (5) winning Teams. 


7.2.    The persons in charge of the winning Teams will be contacted by email by the Organizer, in order to organize the practical handover of the prize. The winners also agree that they may appear with photo and name on the website and other online channels (such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, ...) of the Organizer. 


7.3.    The non-winning Teams will not be informed. 


7.4.    The result of the Contest is binding and irrevocable. It cannot be contested. 

 
Article 8 - Fraud or Manipulation

All methods of falsification or fraud will result in the withdrawal of participation in the Contest. The Organizer reserves the right not to award the prize in the event of fraud or abuse or in the event of infringement of the present Rules, without the Participant being able to make any claim whatsoever against the Organizer. Any Participant who does not comply with these Rules may be excluded from the Contest without notice. 
 

Article 9 - Contact with the Organizer 

No correspondence will be entered into in respect of this Contest, under any circumstances, except: 

- the contact for the validation and handover of the prize by email. 

- a written request for the Rules, accompanied by an addressed and stamped envelope, which should be sent to the following address: Mortierbrigade NV, Rue Waelhem 77, 1030 Brussels 
 

Article 10 - Processing of Personal Data  
10.1.        Upon registration and participation in the Contest, the Participant communicates personal data to the Organizer. The Organizer will process these personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 
 
10.2.        By participating in the Contest, Participants consent to the collection and processing of their personal data and to receiving communications from the Organizer. All personal data collected as part of the Contest will only be used by the Organizer in accordance with the principles and modalities contained in this article. The processed data will not be transferred to third parties. 
 
10.3.        In charge of processing the personal data of the Participants is the Organizer, The Regional Public Service Brussels Mobility, located at Place Saint-Lazare 2, 1035 Brussels. The data will be kept for the period necessary for the organization and handling of the Contest, and at the latest until two (2) months after the end of the Contest. 
 
10.4.        For the Contest, the Organizer will process the following data: 
 
  • When registering for the Contest: 
    • First Name 
    • Name 
    • Address 
    • Email Address 


While participating in the Contest. 
  • The data set "com.google.step_count.delta". This data set gives the Organizer access to the steps that the Google Fit app registers per Participant. 
  • Google Fit also processes other data from the Participants, but these are not shared with the Organizer. 


The data is collected with the aim of ensuring the smooth running of the Contest, in particular the possibility of knowing the number of steps per Participant and of contacting the Participant with regard to participation and to efficiently hand over the prizes. The data is also processed for the purposes of customer management and market studies. 
 
10.5.        Each Participant has the right to access, modify and correct or delete his or her data. This right can be exercised by sending a letter to the Organizer with a copy of the identity card attached. If the Participant requests the total or partial deletion of his/her data before the end of the Contest, so that the Organizer can no longer contact him/her, the participation may be declared invalid and the Participant will lose the right to any prize. 
 
If a Participant should have any complaints about the processing of personal data, the Participant is requested to contact the Organizer. If a satisfactory solution cannot be found, the Participant may file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

Article 11 - Liability 

The Organizer does not make or grant any guarantee with respect to the prize. 

The Organizer cannot be held liable for accidents that may occur or damages that are (in)directly related to the prize won, such as damages resulting from an accident or theft. 

The Organizer reserves the right to modify the Contest or its course if unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond his control warrant it. He may not be held liable if, owing to circumstances beyond his control, the Competition should be interrupted, postponed, or cancelled. 

Article 12 – Complaints

Participating in this Contest implies full and unreserved acceptance of the present Rules and no objections whatsoever will be taken into consideration. 

Any complaint relating to this Contest must be made in writing, within 7 working days following the end of the Contest, to Mortierbrigade NV, Rue de Waelhem 77, 1030 Brussels. Under no circumstances will complaints be handled verbally or by telephone. Complaints submitted outside the deadline or not in writing will not be processed. 

Article 13 - Disputes

Current Rules are subject to Belgian law and any dispute relating to their application falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Brussels courts.
